Fun With Herbs

Last week was Just Peachy. Along with delicious peaches from the Durrs, our bakers prepared fresh peach cobblers, peach pies and various peach pastries. Executive Chef / Owner of Culinary Experience prepared a delicious peach dessert to share with our happy shoppers.
It was - Grilled Summer Peaches with Vanilla Brown Sugar Topping

Grilled Peaches
4 peach halves / not too ripe
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp granulated sugar

1. In bowl toss peach halves with oil and sugar.
2. Preheat grill on medium high heat and place peaches cut-side down. Wait about 45 seconds, then do a quarter turn, leaving peaches down on the cut side for about 30 seconds (that will give those fancy grill marks).
3. Remove from heat.

Vanilla Brown Sugar Topping
3/4 cup vanilla wafers crushed
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp orange juice
2 tsp granulated sugar

1. In small sauce pan, melt butter
2. Add extract, sugar and orange juice
3. Let cook on low heat until all the sugar dissolves.
4. In bowl, place the crusted wafers . Then add the butter mixture and mix together with a spoon.

Putting Finished Dish Together
Take grilled peaches and put about a tbsp of topping on each half (more if you like). Put in a 400 degree oven for about 5 minutes or until topping gets golden brown. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream (my favorite!)
