You are invited to 'Feast in the Fields' - Presented by SJ Hot Chefs -- It will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from 4pm to 7pm. Chefs from Elements Cafe, Coriander and La Esperanza will be bringing their culinary skills to the market and serving up a three course buffet. The cost will be $25 plus tax and gratuity. We're almost halfway through the season!!
So many of you have been coming out to support our local vendors and to spend your mornings at the farm. The live music is always great and the chefs' cooking classes are becoming more and more popular. Last week, Steve Annable from Chophouse Kitchen, really packed the place. For Sat, June 16th...a lot is going on at the Burlington County Farmers' Market. A Market Bag Promotion begins and while supplies last, customers who spend $20 will get a shopping bag designed by a Burlington County Community College student and made specifically for our market.

South Jersey Hot Chef, Ted Iwachi of Ted's on Main, will be giving a cooking class at the market. Be a part of his class and enjoy the dish he creates. Register at the Market Manager's table starting at 8:30. Class begins at 10:00. The cost of the class is $5. Max of 20...first come, first serve.

Memorial Day Weekend - BBQ'ing Jersey Fresh Style

Here are some ideas for your Memorial Day BBQ weekend events featuring products available this Sat from our vendors:
  • Little Hooves Romneys for lamb sausage for grilling (sweet Italian, green onion, tomato basil). these lambs are locally grown and farm raised.
  • Griggstown Quail Farm for marinated Poussin (a personal favorite) for grilling, turkey burgers, and chicken sausage. Don't forget to pick up some of their famous pot pies for the day after the BBQ when you aren't in the mood to prepare a meal from scratch.
  • Spinella Farm for dandelion (sauté, steam, salad, straight up with garlic, rich in iron), mixed greens, and fresh asparagus.
  • Hunter Farm for hot house tomatoes...first of the season. Slice them up as a compliment to the burger or with some mozzarella and basil as an appetizer.
  • Durr Farm for their very own strawberries (strawberry shortcake is an easy dessert) and selection of fresh cut flowers (phlox, iris, & sweet william...to name a few).
  • Cranberry Hall Farm and Perennial Patches for veggie and herb starts to get your garden going for the next party.
  • Longview Flowers for fresh cut flowers to spruce up your house for guests or as a gift for the host of the party.

Not to mention...

  • Darmo Farm for spring greens like arugula and swiss chard.
  • Davidson's Farm for mushrooms for portabella mushrooms (marinate and grill) along with crimini & shiitake. They will be giving free samples of their special Mushroom and Onion Brushetta recipe and offering specials throughout the day.
  • Busy Bee Farm for local honey that is great for marinades and dressings.
  • Barbie Lu's Salsa for apple verde with tomatillo salsa. Its spicy, tangy and tart...all in one bite. This is made with tomatillos and green apples, try with grilled shrimp, flank steak, enchiladas or with a big bowl of chips.
  • Marcelles for quiches, stuffed breads, danish, & croissants.
  • Artemis Farm for free range, chemical free eggs for your famous egg salad.
