October in Bloom

Get ready for a C-O-O-L Saturday!
October is a busy time at the market. Last week, Lisa Simmons of the New Jersey Tree Foundation, discussed and demonstrated the proper way and the best time of the year to prune your trees and cut back your bushes.
Come to the market this Saturday for great tips on backyarding composting. Susan Konen, from the Burlington County Recycling Center, will be here from 8:30 to 12:30. She will bring compost material samples and demonstrate vermiculture (worm composting). Literature will be provided.
On October 25th, it's Pumpkin Painting Day! Buy your favorite pumpkin from a fantastic selection and uses our paints to decorate it.

An Exciting Fall
This upcoming Saturday-- on October 4th -- a special guest will be joining us
at the Farmers' Market.
Mike McGrath, host of the nationally syndicated Public Radio Show, "You Bet Your Garden", will be discussing fall gardening tips. He will explain why fall is the time to plant spring bulbs, trees and shrubs and why it is the best time to perk up your lawns. McGrath, the former longtime editor of Organic Gardening Magazine, will reveal all the secrets of successful second-season gardening in a funny, fast paced workshop.
Live entertainment will be provided by South Saturn Delta, which performs its own brand of R&B blues funk-swamp rock jams.
